Rain, Rain, Go Away!
This is the first time I have tried to share a video as my image of the day, and I hope you enjoy it. This has been pretty much my daily experience for the last week. The sun has teasingly peeked out for a little bit on some days. But generally, this has been pretty typical. Wednesday night even sleep was interrupted more than usual with thunder and lightening and then heavy sporadic downpours. Despite all of this, spring is trudging forward, as you can see with the wild pear tree in full bloom in this video. The parkway leading into my community it lined with pear trees and they are looking especially gorgeous right now. I really must make sure that I get out with my camera today and try to grab some images of them because they are especially lovely this year. This gloom and drear is so tiresome, though. However, I remind myself that before too long I may be complaining because we haven't had rain and/or it is too hot. Are we never satisfied? Actually, when it is raining at night, not in downpour fashion, I find the sound of the drops on the roof above me as rather comforting. My father used to say that such nights were "good sleeping weather," and I agree. But my preference would be to have sunny, warm days right now, and, if it must rain, do it at night. And for those of you who love to learn a bit of trivia, here it is. The original lyrics for the nursery rhyme, “Rain rain go away” has been predicted to date back to the reign of Queen Elizabeth I (1533-1603).
