IT Looks And Feels Like Fall

While I had little time today to enjoy the gorgeous weather, I can see from the angle of the sun as well as the more moderate weather lately that fall is on its way. Some of the trees look like they are trying to change color as well. And the goldenrod, which I have always associated with fall, is at its height. I took this image when I was in Rugby a couple of weeks ago. But there is a lot of goldenrod that I can see out my back windows along the tree line. I love the feathery look that it has both from a distance and close up. I wasn't aware until just now that goldenrod is in the aster family. I also wasn't aware that, besides its beauty, it also has a lot of health benefits. In fact, you can actually eat the flowers and leaves! When I was checking it out I found that its benefits almost sound like those of the old patent medicines that would "cure" anything. For example, goldenrod is used "to reduce pain and swelling (inflammation), as a diuretic to increase urine flow, and to stop musclespasms. It is also used for gout, joint pain (rheumatism), arthritis, as well as eczema and other skin conditions. Goldenrod is also used to treat tuberculosis infections that have become active again after a period of inactivity, diabetes, enlargement of the liver, hemorrhoids, internal bleeding, hay fever, asthma, and an enlarged prostate." So, if you have any of these maladies, go out and find some goldenrod and find a way to add it to you diet. For me, I think I will just look at it and enjoy the beauty.
